Einstein Visit to give a Lecture

German-born theoretical physicist Albert Einstein stayed in Japan from Nov. 17 to Dec. 29, 1922, at the invitation of a publishing company, and gave lectures in 10 locations throughout the country. His last lecture was in Fukuoka, and he and his wife stayed in the Moji Mitsui Club on Dec. 23, the night before. When Einstein gave his lecture at the Daihaku Theater in Fukuoka City, 3,000 people hurried from around Kyushu to listen attentively to the talk of the century. The Former Moji Mitsui Club’s “Einstein Memorial Room” is a re-creation of the room where Einstein and his wife stayed.
