Korean Professional Baseball Teams Compete in a Japanese Exhibition League
The Miyazaki Phoenix League has operated in Miyazaki Prefecture every October since 2004 as an exhibition league for second-string Japanese professional baseball players.
Since 2006, Korean baseball teams have participated in addition to Japanese ones, and beginning in 2017, Japanese independent leagues and others have also participated.
All games have free admission, and both Japanese pro baseball fans and tourists from Korea attend and cheer their favorites. Related events, such as a talk show featuring players, are held in Miyazaki City and elsewhere.
