DRUM TAO is a Japanese entertainment group that plays the overwhelming sound of wadaiko drum, the shinobue, the shamisen, the koto with its beautiful melodies and other instruments with advanced technique. It has performed in 26 countries, 500 cities and in front of more than 8 million audience members around the world.
The group formed in 1993, and since 1995 it has used as its headquarters TAO no Sato Grandioso in Aso-Kuju National Park in Kuju-machi, Taketa City, Oita Prefecture. These activities led to the government awarding DRUM TAO the 6th Japan Tourism Award, and the group received the MIC Minister Award to mark the 70th anniversary of the enactment of the Local Government Law.

TAO no Oka/TAO no Sato Grandioso

This is the headquarters of the musical group DRUM TAO. It bustles with visitors every August for three weeks when the TAO Summer Festival is held.
TAO no Oka is the planned location of the TAO Arts Village and Academy Concept by the TAO Cultural Foundation, which was established in 2015. Its planned completion date is spring 2020.
