Fukuoka, a base for interaction with the rest of Asia

Fukuoka is geographically and historically special because it has been a base for diplomacy and foreign trade since antiquity. Because of this, in recent years it has played the role of a base city for exchange with the rest of Asia, and there are facilities and events that symbolize interaction with Asia in the city.
The Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, in the city center, is the world’s only museum that systematically gathers up and displays modern Asian works of art. It allows people to easily come into contact with the art and culture of Asia, including by holding art-related social events.
An annual event that introduces Asian culture and started out as "Asia Month" more than 20 years ago became "Asian Party" in 2013, and it allows people to experience modern Asia in various parts of the city.
