National Highway Route 3 Tosu-Kurume Road

The road network of Kurume City is “centripetal radial type” where 8 lines including Route 3, Route 209, Route 210, etc. concentrate at the city center. Traffic concentrates including vehicles that have no business going to the center, thus, chronic congestions occur.

The Tosu-Kurume Road disperses through traffic and solves traffic congestion in the city center by forming belt highway that unites with Higashiaikawa-NobushiLine which is under the maintenance of Fukuoka Prefecture and Kurume City. The Higashiaikawa-NobushiLine was opened to traffic on March 21, 2014.
