Collaboration with education for Integrated Flood Management started in November 2012

Training sessions targeted towards the younger generation to aid educational opportunities work for Integrated Flood Management in their outreach to the public. MLIT Takeo River Office arranges the materials for teachers in collaboration with municipal Boards of Education. The training sessions for 5th grade (children/youth ages 10-11) were held in Kuri-elementary School, Karatsu City on 1 November 2012 and in Mifunegaoka-elementary School, Takeo City on 21 November 2012. Two sessions were coordinated in regular science curriculum with actual field information on Matsuuragawa Basin (Kuri-elementary School) and Rokkakugawa Basin (Mifunegaoka-elementary School) respectively. The session in Mifunegaoka-elementary School was also opened to the public so local people could watch the activity through local television and newspaper.
